We had the privilege to work with ZP Architects & Engineers to make this Nakupuna sign come to life! This was both a fun and challenging project. The client wanted the backer to be blackened steel but that would have weighed a lot and been difficult to install. We decided to do a faux blackened patina on aluminum instead to save weight. It took us a few tried but we finally made the panels look very similar to blackened steel! We fabricated the 3″ deep aluminum letters and logo to have a “halo” illuminated glow to bounce the light off the faux blackened steel. This sign looks amazing during the day and night and we are thrilled how this project turned out.
